Heavy-Lift Rehab Case Study
When MKX acquired Sherry Village the property had struggled with a property fire, vagrancy and crime, and was a largely regarded as a blight to the local community. But where most see a headache - MKX sees opportunity. Armed with a heavy rehab budget, MKX turned the property from an uninhabitable den to bright, beautiful, accessible housing to the community of Centre/Gadsden, AL.
Low Income Housing Solution
Rapidly rising housing prices and record low supply of new homes has created a a serious shortage of affordably priced housing across the country. In addition, the pandemic left a large percentage of hotels and motels vacant for months on end. MKX saw this as a once-in-a-lifetime 'blue ocean' opportunity and that these empty hotels and motels could be reimagined and repurposed into critically needed, affordably priced rental housing. The adaptive reuse of the Holiday Inn to Four Hills Studios is a prime example of the ingenuity and sustainability of the MKX model - and due to a low entry price, an attractive return to the MKX investors.
